US stocks are giving back some of their gains as a report circulates that Microsoft is winding down an arrangement with Oracle for AI cloud capacity. Details on the scope and timing of any wind-down remain unconfirmed.

Oracle shares are trading at $111.35 after reaching a session high of $119.70. The stock fell as low as $109.21 in the current hourly bar, its lowest level since February 2024. That puts the shares $8.35, or about 7%, below the day’s high.

The headline comes a day after the Nasdaq 100 fell 6.36% as investors sold chipmakers and other stocks tied to the AI buildout. The question for investors is whether Microsoft is shifting where it gets its computing power or scaling back how much capacity it plans to add.

The major indices are still higher on the day, but they are moving off their highs and back toward their session lows:

S&P 500 up 38.99 points or 0.53% at 7,392.72

Nasdaq Composite up 269.98 points or 1.11% at 24,584.98

Russell 2000 up 18.12 points or 0.66% at 2,748.01

Nasdaq 100 up 348.30 points or 1.31% at 26,978.11

For Oracle, $109.21 is the immediate downside barometer. If buyers can lean against that low, there’s room for a bounce. A break below it that holds would keep sellers in control. For the broader indices, the session lows are the levels to watch. If those give way, the focus shifts back toward Thursday’s low
