Anthropic stock could offer investors an opportunity to capitalize on the artificial intelligence ( AI ) boom, but buying immediately after its initial public offering ( IPO ) may not be the most attractive strategy, according to ChatGPT.

Notably, Anthropic filed its IPO registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on October 26, 2026, setting the stage for a potential public listing.

However, the final offering price and trading date remain subject to confirmation.

When to buy Anthropic stock

According to ChatGPT, investors should monitor Anthropic stock during its first two weeks of trading, with days five through 15 offering a potential window to assess price action and identify a more favorable entry point.

Rather than buying at the opening bell, investors could wait for initial volatility to subside and look for a pullback toward support, followed by signs of renewed buying interest.

This approach would allow the market to establish an initial trading range and provide more insight into investor demand. However, this is a monitoring window, not a prediction of when the stock will reach its lowest price.

If Anthropic shares surge immediately after listing, waiting could help investors avoid paying an inflated price. Conversely, the AI model noted that if the stock continues to climb without a meaningful pullback, investors may need to reassess their entry strategy rather than assume a correction is inevitable.

At the same time, Anthropic’s valuation will be crucial in determining whether its stock is attractive after the IPO.

Reports suggest a potential valuation of $1.5 trillion, down from earlier expectations of $2 trillion, highlighting shifting investor expectations.

Anthropic fundamentals

Strong enterprise demand for Claude and rapid revenue growth support the bullish case, but infrastructure costs and future spending commitments remain risks.

A post-IPO price decline would not automatically make the stock a bargain; investors must assess whether its growth and profitability prospects justify its market capitalization.

Overall, ChatGPT’s outlook favors buying after a pullback and price stabilization, while a continued decline on heavy volume warrants caution.

Investors should also assess Anthropic’s IPO valuation, revenue growth, margins, and infrastructure spending before buying.

Anthropic’s corporate structure is another consideration for IPO investors. As a public benefit corporation, it must balance shareholder interests with its mission to develop AI responsibly.

Its Long-Term Benefit Trust helps oversee that mission, while a special class of founder-held stock would carry 50.1% of total voting power under the preliminary filing, potentially limiting public shareholders’ influence.

The technology company’s focus on AI safety could strengthen trust among enterprise and government customers, but regulatory changes, security incidents or restrictions on its models could increase costs and hurt adoption.

These risks could weigh on the stock, particularly if its IPO valuation leaves little room for setbacks.
